Athletes aged 13-18* who would like to register for CWNEXT categories, click through at the registration links below. CWNEXT categories are available in the following events: 100% Dual Slalom, Rotorua Air DH presented by Bosch, Crankworx Rotorua Downhill presented by Gull**, and the RockShox Rotorua Pump Track Challenge presented by Torpedo7. Please note, CWNEXT races will be run like an amateur youth category. These competitions are designed to challenge skilled young riders.

*Minimum age is 13 (year of birth 2007) as of December 31, 2020.

The Official Oceania Whip-Off Championships presented by SpankRockShox Rotorua Pump Track Challenge presented by Torpedo7Mons Royale Speed and Style Rotorua, and Maxxis Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza are pro invitational events.

Entry fees are refundable (less processing fee) providing cancellation notice is received in writing to by 11:59pm NZDT on February 29th. Enduro refund requests need to be recieved by February 25th, 2020 at 11:59pm NZDT.

All entries are non-refundable or transferable after the registration deadline (even in the case of injury or mechanical problems).

Competitors who need to withdraw after the registration deadline should email to confirm their withdrawal otherwise they will appear on the start list as a DNS.

Everyone travelling to NZ (who does not have an NZ or Australian passport) will need a Sports Event Visa or NZeTA (Electronic Travel Authority) for entry to NZ.

Attendees will fall into 2 categories:

  • If the visitor is from a “visa waiver” country, then only an NZeTA will need to be applied for. The visitor waiver countries are listed below via a link. To apply for the NZeTA, click here.
  • If the visitor is not from one of these Visa Waiver countries (or Australia), then the visitor will need to apply for a Sports Event Visa. To apply for a Sports Event Visa click here. Visitors who fall into this category may need an immigration letter. Please email to request a letter if required.

Athlete parking will be available at the Rowi Street Reserve and along Kawaha Point Road on a first-come first-served basis.
Special Note for Rotorua DH Competitors: There is no parking available in the Skyline carpark during the track walk or at any point during event week. Please use the designated parking areas.

Race Category Eligibility (age and gender) for all Crankworx events will be determined by the athletes Cycling NZ or UCI license. For athletes who do not possess a Cycling NZ or UCI license, and do not require one for any of the races in which they are entered, Race Category Eligibility (age and gender) will be determined by the athletes birth certificate or passport. Athletes may be required to provide evidence at the point of athlete registration or accreditation (at the discretion of the Athlete Manager or Event Director).

All registered competitors in Crankworx events from March 4-8 will receive accreditation valid for access to Skyline March 4-8, so purchasing a spectator pass is not required.

Competitors registered in the Giant Toa Enduro will not receive accreditation valid at the Skyline venue. Giant Toa Enduro entry fees will include a 50% off voucher for a General Admission pass to access the Skyline venue from March 4-8.

No. You will not need a lift ticket for official practice, or to participate in an event that you are registered in. Your entry fee covers any lift or bus shuttle access you need for official DH practice sessions or competition.

If you are wanting to ride the Skyline park just to ride, then you will be required to purchase a ticket.

If you have friends and family that want to come watch you compete, they will need tickets to access to the Skyline venue. General Admission Tickets can be purchased onsite or online at .  General admission to the Skyline venue starts at 10am.

General Admission Tickets are also required for team managers, mechanics, coaches, parents…  but any Athlete Support that will need earlier access to the Skyline venue will be able to exchange their General Admission Tickets for an Athlete Support Pass .  Only available for Adult General Admission Ticket holders – doesn’t apply to General Admission Family Pass holders. Exchange can be made at the Skyline Athlete Registration office.

If gondola access is required for your event, priority access will be granted; however, the park may be open during events so please respect other riders.

Event times are posted on the event schedule. The start list will be posted online the evening prior to the event. Copies will also be posted in the Athlete Centre on the morning of the race.

Full-face helmets are required for all Crankworx events (Downhills, Dual Slalom, Whip-off, Speed & Style, Best Trick, Pumptrack and Slopestyle)

Half shell or full-face helmets are required for the Giant Toa Enduro.

Racers in the Crankworx Rotorua Downhill will also be subject to other mandatory protection requirements as per Cycling NZ Rules

Ages 17+:
-Full face helmet (Any 1 or 2-Piece helmet with approved Safety Certification is permitted – see Cycling NZ Rules for approved safety certification standards)

Spinal/shoulder protection, neck brace and full finger gloves highly recommended.

Ages 16 and under:

Timing transponders will be collected at the finish of the race. Racers who withdraw or do not complete the race should return the transponders to the Registration Office in the Skyline Management Offices.
Lost or damaged transponders will be assessed a $150 NZD replacement fee.

First response and medical services at Crankworx Rotorua are provided by Peak Safety and Ascent Medical Support.

Peak Safety are experts in first response and extraction. They operate the Rotorua Mountain Bike Patrol and have wide experience in mountain biking and other outdoor sports. Peak medics provide on course first response across the Crankworx Rotorua events. Ascent Medical Support provide doctors for a range of endurance and extreme sports events around New Zealand. Their doctors are used to the specific requirements of athletes and mountain bikers. They run a field medical clinic trackside at the Crankworx Rotorua event village.

Crankworx Rotorua, Peak Safety and Ascent Medical Support are committed to proving high quality, up to date, medical services to competitors. Practice is aligned with internationally recognized guidelines.

Concussion is a specific area for focus in mountain biking. Crankworx Rotorua has a structured concussion assessment and management protocol in place for ensuring athletes get the best possible care when affected by a concussion. Ascent Medical Support are leading the way in developing a mountain bike specific protocol. The aim is to identify athletes at risk of further harm and make sure they can start concussion recovery in the most appropriate way. This process is aligned with recent international concussion research and with Cycling New Zealand protocols. For more information on the concussion protocol please contact

Ascent Medical Support operates a track side clinic for assessing and managing injuries as they happen. The doctors are also able to follow up athletes on site during the Crankworx week as required. This includes follow ups for athletes at risk of a concussion. They are also able to arrange xrays and further treatment through local Rotorua providers. All athletes are covered by New Zealand’s public insurance company – Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) – for treatment for injuries sustained while in New Zealand.
Details at
ACC does not cover treatment if an injured person leaves New Zealand and therefore is not a replacement for an individual’s travel insurance.

Travel, medical and liability insurance is recommended when travelling and competing at any Crankworx World Tour events. Insurance coverage is not provided by Crankworx Rotorua.

(“CEI”), the event organizers of each event, and their respective affiliates, sponsors, promoters, advertisers, broadcasters, webcasters, contractors, agents, representatives, licensees and assigns (together, the “Releasees”) all the necessary authority, right and license and permission to use photographs, audio or video recordings, or other forms of recordings that capture my image, likeness, voice or performance (or all of these) (collectively hereinafter referred to as “Images”), in which I may be included in whole or in part, in any manner or media, including print, broadcast, internet media, direct marketing channels, downloadable content and applications, and all other technologies now known or hereafter developed. The Images may be used or exploited for any commercial or non-commercial purpose whatsoever, and may be altered, modified, changed, combined or incorporated into other works I hereby relinquish any rights I may have in the Images (including privacy, personality and publicity rights.
